Who We Are
Our Story

Basix6 Homeless Outreach, Inc. was founded in 2014 by Dr. Marilyn L. Sails. Dr. Sails has a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Although it may sound cliche, Dr. Sails is simply passionate about helping people. She stands on Biblical principles (that also align with the Code of Ethics of Social Work) which is that each person is worthy of respect and should be treated with dignity.
With the support of her spouse, Robert Sails, and their then six-year-old child, along with a group of concerned community members who wanted to make a difference in the lives of homeless/unsheltered individuals, the vision to be part of the solution to eradicate homelessness took action steps.
Basix6 Homeless Outreach, Inc., is a Christian outreach ministry serving the homeless/unsheltered and marginalized populations. We provide tangible resources via "blessing bags" which contain "Basic" supplies such as food, clothing, and hygiene products.
The Basix6 Mission
Our team is made up of dedicated community partners who are passionate about helping others. We are committed to providing ”basic” needs in the most impoverished communities.
Basix6 Homeless Outreach, Inc., advocates for and provides what we believe to be the BASIC and SIX (6) fundamental human needs necessary for survival, as well as assisting in restoring each individual's inherent dignity and worth as a valued member of society.
We have a vision for future expansion to address these BASIC and SIX (6) fundamental human needs which include (1) spiritual needs, (2) physical needs, (3) mental health needs, (4) medical needs, (5) nutritional needs, and (6) social needs.
Our Accomplishments
Basix6 Homeless Outreach, Inc. has achieved many milestones over the years, including increasing our outreach efforts.
Basix6 Homeless Outreach, Inc. flourished in 2014 after the gifting to those within the homeless community with 250 bag lunches that were made with love in the Sails kitchen. Along with the assistance from several of the Fritz family, those lunch bags were distributed to the community so quickly that we knew that we had to do more.
Since those early days, Basix6 Homeless Outreach, Inc. has been able to "adopt" several homeless shelters, veteran housing complexes and several designated areas on the streets with blessing bags filled to the rim with some of the most "basic" products to help people in their time of need.
Basix Homeelss Outreach, Inc. started with three in a kitchen and has now branched out to countless of volunteers to help with the annual blessing bags. Each blessing bag usually includes, hygiene products, no-cooking food items and special sweets specially selected by the Sails daughter, Kat.
We are proud of what we have accomplished, but there is still much work to be done.
