Who We Are
Our Story

Basix6 Homeless Outreach, Inc. was founded in 2014 by Dr. Marilyn L. Sails, who holds a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Driven by a deep passion for helping others, Dr. Sails is guided by Biblical principles that align with the Social Work Code of Ethics—believing that every individual is worthy of respect and should be treated with dignity.
With the unwavering support of her husband, Robert Sails, and their then six-year-old child, along with a dedicated group of community members, Dr. Sails turned a shared vision into action: to be part of the solution in addressing homelessness.
Basix6 Homeless Outreach, Inc. is a Christian ministry committed to serving homeless, unsheltered, and marginalized individuals. Through our outreach efforts, we provide tangible support in the form of “blessing bags”—care packages filled with essential items such as non-perishable food items, clothing, and hygiene products. These basic supplies offer not only relief but also a message of hope and compassion.
The Basix6 Mission
Our team is composed of dedicated community partners who share a deep passion for helping others. We are committed to meeting the basic needs of individuals in some of the most underserved and impoverished communities.
At Basix6 Homeless Outreach, Inc., we advocate for and provide resources to what we believe are the BASIC and SIX (6) fundamental human needs essential for survival when in a situation of homelessness. Our mission also includes restoring each individual's inherent dignity and worth as a valued member of society.
Looking ahead, we envision having a facility that would allow us to expand our efforts to more comprehensively address these six core areas:
- Spiritual Needs
- Physical Needs
- Mental Health Needs
- Medical Needs
- Nutritional Needs
- Social Needs
Through this holistic approach, we aim to support the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—on their journey toward stability and hope.
Our Accomplishments
Basix6 Homeless Outreach, Inc. has reached many meaningful milestones over the years, steadily expanding its outreach and deepening its impact.
The journey began in 2014 with a heartfelt gesture—250 bag lunches lovingly prepared in the Sails family kitchen. With the help of several members of the Fritz family, those lunches were quickly distributed to individuals experiencing homelessness. The overwhelming response made it clear: this was just the beginning.
Since then, Basix6 has grown from a kitchen-based effort into a thriving outreach ministry. We’ve “adopted” multiple homeless shelters, veteran housing communities, and designated street locations, consistently delivering blessing bags filled with essential items to those in need.
What started with just three people has blossomed into a network of countless volunteers who come together each year to assemble and distribute these bags. Each blessing bag typically includes hygiene products, ready-to-eat non-perishable food items, and a sweet treat—personally selected by the Sails’ daughter, Kat, to add a special touch of care.
We are proud of how far we’ve come, but we know the work is far from over. With continued support, we remain committed to reaching more lives and spreading hope—one blessing bag at a time.
